We’re not waiting idly by as the battle comes to us; We confront the cultural and spiritual battles of our time, publishing works that arm believers with truth and equip them to stand firm for Christ’s kingdom.
The name Asser Press is a tribute to Asser, the faithful monk who documented much of the life and achievements of King Alfred the Great. Like Asser, who used his skills to preserve vital history and wisdom for future generations, Asser Press is dedicated to capturing and conveying the truths that shape our faith and culture today. By choosing this name, we align our mission with Asser's legacy of recording history with purpose, and leading the charge in today’s battles for truth and faith, equipping the Church to stand firm and advance Christ's Kingdom.
To glorify God by taking dominion over modern tools, harnessing the wisdom of the past to equip, disciple, and unify the Church, while preserving biblical truth and faithfully documenting the cultural battles of our time to advance the Kingdom of our Lord, Christ Jesus.
Why another publishing company?
Don’t we have enough of those already?
Well…..
No. We don’t. And we need as many as we can get…
Why you ask?
Well…. Asser Press exists to build modern Christian "burhs," strongholds of faith that defend against the cultural and spiritual challenges of our time. Inspired by the fortified towns King Alfred the Great established to protect and unify his kingdom, Asser Press aims to equip, disciple, and unify the Church by preserving biblical truth and providing believers with the knowledge and resources needed to stand firm. Asser Press was founded with a mission deeply rooted in the legacy of Asser, a Welsh monk who, in 885 AD, became one of King Alfred’s most trusted advisors
Asser’s works offer a window into the transformative leadership of a king who understood that true strength lay not only in the deep resolve of his men, locked shoulder to shoulder together in the shield wall against the Viking hoards but in the intellectual and spiritual fortification of his men, and people abroad. Alfred’s creation of fortified towns, called burhs, was a strategic move to protect Wessex from Viking invasions, but it also symbolized a deeper commitment to the security and unity of his kingdom. Asser was more than a mere observer; he was an active participant in Alfred’s mission to revive learning, translating key texts into Old English and ensuring that the wisdom of the past was accessible to all.
This spirit of preserving wisdom and increasing knowledge is the heartbeat of Asser Press. Like the burhs that stood as strongholds against the forces that threatened Alfred’s kingdom, our publications are crafted to defend the truth in an age of cultural and spiritual conflict. We see our work as building modern-day strongholds of faith—places where believers can be equipped with knowledge, encouraged in their walk and united in purpose.
Furthermore, Asser Press also draws inspiration from Alfred’s creation of a “mead-hall” culture, where warriors and scholars alike, gathered to celebrate, learn, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. Stories were told, victories were shared, and the unity of the kingdom was solidified through feasting and laughter. Our aim is to recreate this sense of community through our work, providing a space—both literal and metaphorical—where Christians can come together to be inspired, to learn, and to find the strength needed to face today’s challenges.
Our mission at Asser Press is to glorify God by taking dominion over modern tools, harnessing the wisdom of the past to equip, disciple, and unify the Church today. We are committed to preserving biblical truth and faithfully documenting the cultural battles of our time, just as Asser documented the pivotal moments of Alfred’s reign. By choosing the name Asser Press, we are not only honouring a legacy but also declaring our commitment to building a lasting legacy of our own—a legacy that, like Asser’s writings, will endure for generations and advance the Kingdom of our Lord, Christ Jesus to the glory of the One True and Living God.
Stand with Asser Press as we build Christian strongholds, defend the faith, and equip believers to advance Christ’s Kingdom. The time to fight is now—join us!
